A boat ferrying women back from Gasanya to Gafasa in Kafin Hausa and Gasanya in under Auyo local government arears respectively both in Jigawa State has capsized on Thursday resulting in the death of seven girls.
Penpushing reports that, sources said the victims were returning from participating in the annual Maulud celebration in Gasanya, when the sad incident occurred, while one of the bereaved mothers disclosed that the victims were mostly in the range of 11 to 12 years.
“12 people were inside the boat during the accident in the river between Auyo and Kafin Hausa local government areas. Seven of the girls died while five were rescued,” the sources said.
Penpushing further reports that,the village head of Gafasa, Adamu Abdullahi,who also confirmed the incident, disclosed that as at the time of filing this report the deceased have since been buried according to Islamic rites
