The traditional ruler of Oke-Ona Egba, Oba Adedapo Tejuoso has disclosed that he never thought he would be a King, having being addicted to his medical profession as a Medical Doctor, whose desire was to make name in the profession.

Penpushing reports that, Tejuoso made the disclosure on Sunday at a press conference to announce programme for his 32nd anniversary coronation, scheduled to kick start on Monday, May 17 with marathon praise.

The royal father recalled that he was 35 years old when he was approached by some of his kinsmen that, he may likely be the next monarch of the town, if his predecessor then, who was sick and on admission die, but declared to them that he would never take such offer, because at 35 he believed he was too young to be distracted from his medical profession.

Penpushing further reports that, he equally told his kinsmen that, he would accept such offer if he was 50 years, hence, they should count him out of being considered at his younger age of 35, adding that as God would have it, the reigning monarch then survived the ailment.

The Medical Doctor turned traditional ruler said  he was happy seeing his predecessor surviving the ailment, and though he had finally escaped the proposed offert, recalling that thereafter his predecessor live for another fifteen years  but to his amazement, he died  the exact year  he (Tejuoso) turned 50.

Penpushing also reports that, he at this stage when the issue was revisited, he had no option than to accept in good faith, adding that, it was a clear testimony that ’I used my mouth in requesting for what I want’, hence, his road to the exalted position in 1989.

‘When my predecessor was sick, and was on admission, I was approached that if he died, I will be next traditional ruler, I kicked against it, that am still young at 35, as a medical doctor busy with my medical profession’

‘I told them that I will only take the offer if I am 50, but as God wants it he survived  the sickness and live for another years,  before he died, but surprisingly, this was when I was 50 years and some months,, and at that stage I have no any excuse’, he stated

The monarch said, interestingly he was the only one nominated by his ruling house, as well as the kingmakers, hence his name was forwarded to the Ogun State Government, and  came on the throne in1989’, Tejuoso said

‘Interestingly, I was only one nominated by my ruling house, and even kingmakers, hence, my name was the only one forwarded to the state government, and I came on the throne in 1989’, the traditional ruler stated
