The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has assured that his administration would deliver between 200-250 housing units at the President Muhammadu Buhari Estate, Abeokuta, before the end of year 2023.

Penpushing reports that Abiodun gave the assurance after inspecting the ongoing construction of 60 units of houses at the estate located along Abeokuta- Kobape dual carriage road, in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area

The Governor speaking with journalists stated that the development was in fulfilment of his administration’s promise to complete abandoned projects that have a direct bearing on the lives of the people.

Penpushing further reports that Abiodun explained that the 60 units of houses currently being built in the estate are made up of semi-detached and detached, adding that before the end of the year between 200 and 250 housing units will be made available

‘Between now and the end of this year, we will have nothing less than 200-250 units that will be completed with the complementary landscaping and all other furniture that are required to make the estate an ideal community’, he said.

‘This estate is one of the several inherited projects by our administration and in line with our policy that government and governance is a continuum, I promised that every project we inherited from the previous administration will be completed as long as it has economic benefits to our people’, Abiodun emphasised.

‘We reviewed this project because a lot of taxpayers’ money was spent on it. Before we assumed office, the infrastructural contract like the road network and street lights had been awarded. However, the contractor was not paid and by the time we came in, the contractor had taken the government to court without our knowing it because the previous administration had left the matter in court unattended to’, he stated.

Penpushing also reports that the Governor said his government reviewed the design of the project after taken over governance, to ensure affordability and its aesthetic, to reflect the intended purpose of the estate.

Meanwhile, the Governor expressed satisfaction with the level of work done at the estate, reiterating that his administration would continue to provide affordable houses to strata of people in the society.
