The former Presidential Candidate of African Action Congress (AAC) Omoyele Sowore has accused Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Ishaq Oloyede of shedding crocodile tears over goof recorded by the board during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME).

Penpushing reports that it is recalled that the development was reported to have led to a suicide committed by one of the candidates identified as 19-year-old Timilehin Faith Opesusi who ingested rodent poison on Monday after scoring 190 in the recently released results.

The deceased family sources disclosed that she had applied to study microbiology and had also taken the examination last year, scoring higher than this year, an examination the leadership of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), later owned up to errors from the board

Penpushing further reports that Oloyede at a press conference reportedly burst into tears admitting to technical errors in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) that affected numerous candidates.

The Publisher of Sahara Reporter, however, in reaction to Oloyede’s tears, on his social media account on Wednesday, declared that such did not hold water, rather he (Oloyede) should resign from office

‘The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (@JAMBHQ), Prof. Oloyede, bears responsibility for the organization’s egregious errors, which have devastatingly claimed a young life. Shedding crocodile tears is not a remedy for these infractions. As a first step, he should resign, followed by a thorough investigation and possible prosecution for manslaughter. Moreover, JAMB must be scrapped’, Sowore emphasized

Penpushing also reports that Oloyede admitted to the errors while speaking on the outcome of the review and apologised to the candidates, explaining that the board has decided that all candidates affected in 157 out of 882 centres will be contacted to retake their examinations starting Friday, May 16, 2025

“So, I appeal to the candidates and those affected by the error of our system to accept this explanation as the truth of the matter without embellishment, Please. I apologise and take full responsibility, not just in words,” he said.

Penpushing reports that Oloyede assured that affected candidates would be contacted by the board through text messages sent to their registered phone numbers, email addresses, profiles, and phone calls.

The registrar directed the candidates to reprint their examination slips for the rescheduled examination date, adding that the board has contacted the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), which is currently holding its West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE), to allow the board some slots for candidates to take the examinations,
