The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Abeokuta Branch football squad on Monday thrashed the soccer team of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) by 3-1 during a football engagement held at the Moshood Abiola Sports Arena, Abeokuta.

Penpushing reports that the soccer duel between the two teams was part of activities to mark the 50th anniversary of journalism practice in Ogun State which kicked off with a press conference held on Sunday at Iwe-Iroyin Press Centre, Abeokuta.

The football match was witnessed by number of spectators which lasted for 60 minutes at the Federations of International Football Associations (FIFA) standard stadium, as the players displayed their skills outside the court and newsroom

Penpushing further reports that the lawyers earlier recorded two goals in the first half of the tension-soaked match, and added the third goal in the second half, however, the penpushers struggled hard towards the tail end of the second half to  push in a goal.

The legal practitioners could not hide their joy following their victory over the media practitioners, as they engaged in celebrations alongside their colleagues who also came to the stadium to cheer them up

Penpushing also reports that among dignitaries as spectators at the stadium include League of Veteran Journalists, Ogun State Chapter led by their chairman, Dele Akinsola, as well as number of Ministry of Sports officials among others.

The lawyers at the end of the competition went home with a winning bonus of N50, 000 donated by the management of Penpushing Media, owner of online newspaper and television, first online media outlet to start operations in Abeokuta, town where journalism started in Nigeria, in 1859
