Former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has mourned revered elder statesman and foremost leader of Afenifere Pa Reuben Fasoranti who passed away on Tuesday, 20 October, 2026, at the age of 100.

Penpushing reports that Amosun in a condolence message described Fasoranti’s passing as a great loss to his family, Afenifere family, government and people of Ondo State, Yorubaland and Nigeria as a whole.

The governor pointed out that the deceased enduring contributions to the advancement of the Yoruba people, democratic governance and education would remain indelible in Nigeria’s history

‘Pa Fasoranti will be remembered as a committed advocate of good governance, true federalism, and social justice. Throughout his life, he remained steadfast in his advocacy for the progress of the Yoruba people and the unity and development of Nigeria’, Amosun wrote.

‘A committed Awoist and a prominent adherent of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s progressive political philosophy, Pa Fasoranti upheld the ideals of integrity, selfless service, social welfare, and accountable leadership till he died’, he added.

Penpushing further reports that Amosun acknowledged Fasoranti’s remarkable contributions to education and public administration, adding that as an educationist, teacher, and school principal, he helped shape generations of students.

The former governor stated that Fasoranti’s distinguished service as Commissioner for Finance in the old Ondo State from 1979 to 1983 further underscored his commitment to public service.

‘Although his passing marks the end of an era. Pa Fasoranti’s exemplary life, firm convictions, and enduring contributions to humanity would continue to inspire generations to come’, he added.

Penpushing also reports that Amosun prayed that the Almighty God grants him eternal rest, and gives his family, Afenifere and all those mourning his passing the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
