Suspected cultists said to be on the run as at the time of this report have killed a 65-year-old woman identified as Oluyemi Tunmise, and plucked one of her eyes in a farm at Fadahunsi Area of Ilesa town of Osun state
Penpushing reports that, the Osun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, who confirmed the incident in a statement said the deceased’s daughter reported the discovery of her mother’s corpse to the police.
“At about 1.00 p.m. on Monday, One Dare Oluyemi of Odundun Area Ilesa reported that her mother, Oluyemi Tunmise, 65, who the family had been searching for since Saturday, had been found dead. She said her mother was found dead with one of her eyes removed by yet-to-be-identified assailants on her farm at Fadahunsi Area of Ilesa, at about 11.30 a.m on Monday”, Opatola said
Penpushing further reports that, the command spokesperson in the statement added hat, as at the time of filing this report the police had visited the scene of the crime and had taken photographs of the deceased.
The Command Public Relations Officer said the person who reported the incident and the other children of the deceased, however, refused the police to take the body of their mother to the mortuary or carry out further investigation, stressing that the family threatened to unleash violence and that they wished to bury the corpse.
Penpushing also reports that, it is recalled that, gunmen last Friday kidnapped a gold miner and his driver in Ilesa, demanding N5 million ransom which they later reduced to N500, 000, just as record has it that Osun State in recent days has been a hotbed of violence.
The suspected kidnappers, in a related development few days ago killed a police inspector who tried to prevent them from abducting two foreign miners in Ifewara community in Atakunmonsa West local government of the state.
