The Publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, has been reported arrested by the police for allegedly leading a protest tagged, #CrossoverWithProtest at Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

Penpushing reports that, Sowore was whisked away alongside some activists, with few of them managed to escape arrest, as the time of this report, while the wherabout of the arrested protesters remained unknown.

The former Presidential candidate was reported to have been taken away in one of the seven vans of the Nigerian police mobilised to the protest ground on New Year eve at Gudu junction in Abuja.

Penpushing further reports that, as at Friday evening efforts to reach Sowore on his known two mobile numbers proved abortive, while in the same vein, it could not be establish how many protesters were arrested alongside with him.

The controversial politician had earlier on Thursday, on Twitter, encouraged Nigerians to hold a crossover protest by picking up a candle and a placard showing their grievances against the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.

Penpushing also reports that, the latest arrest of Sowore, wasn’t the first, having been arrested last year for calling for a #RevolutionNowProtest, and ended up spending 100 days in detention, but later granted bail by the court

The Federal Government accused him of planning to overthrow the government of President Muhammed Buhari, while number of Nigerians posited that the protest called for better governance in the country

Penpushing reports that  when text message was sent to the Force Police Public Relations, Frank Mba,  on his Whassap contact at about 10pm on Friday, and seen to be online, he ignored the message to respond to.
