The founder of the Larry Jay Free Healthcare Foundation, Hon. Lanre Jaji, has donated food items and toiletries to the Stella Obasanjo Children’s Home and free drugs to State Hospital, Sokenu, Abeokuta.
Penpushing reports that the gestures was part of activities to mark his 63rd birthday ceremony to provide succour for the children at the home, as well as provide relief for the patients in the hospital, a remarkable demonstration of compassion and commitment to humanitarian service
The birthday celebration, which attracted family members, friends and well-wishers, was transformed into a humanitarian event as beneficiaries received relief materials and medical support aimed at improving their welfare.
Penpushing further reports that the donor speaking at the events said the initiative was part of his desire to give back to society and assured that the outreach would become an annual programme through his foundation to benefit more vulnerable people.
The medical practitioner turned politician explained that his passion for helping the less privileged had remained unwavering over the years and expressed satisfaction that the foundation was making a meaningful impact on the lives of the people.
Penpushing also reports that he pledged to sustain the programme annually, noting that the Larry Jay Free Healthcare Foundation would continue to expand its interventions in healthcare and social welfare
Penpushing further reports that Ogun State Water Corporation, Mr. Adelaja Emmanuel described Jaji as a compassionate and generous individual whose life has been dedicated to supporting humanity.
The founder of Penpushing Media, Prince Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji, who was a special guest of honour at the events disclosed that the donor has been friends of over four decades and can attest to his generosity in the area of welfare for the need.
Penpushing also reports that Kayode-Adedeji, going back memory lane told the gathering that while working in the Ogun State Hospital Management Board as administrative officer years back before his retirement, had the opportunity to work alongside with Jaji who was a Pharmacist at the State Hospital, Abeokuta and witnessed his passion to provide relief for the needy.
The former civil servant turned journalist recalled that those years, Jaji most time used his personal money to purchase drugs for the indigent patients in the hospital, adding that his passion for the continuity in assisting the needy was not news to him
‘We have been friends for over forty years, and I know him very well. What he is doing today is not strange nor news to me. I recalled when we work together at State Hospital, Abeokuta, he was in the pharmacy department, and most time used his personal money to purchase drugs for indigent patients’
Penpushing reports that Kayode-Adedeji emphasized that the gestures being witnessed was simply an expansion of the same compassion Jaji had consistently demonstrated over the years, and equally commended Jaji for sustaining the humanitarian initiative over the years and described it as a worthy legacy.
The Welfare/Public Relations Officer of Ogun State Chapter of League of Veteran Journalists praised Jaji’s decision to involve his children in the foundation’s activities to ensure continuity after his lifetime, describing the move as a demonstration of foresight and commitment to sustainable philanthropy.
Penpushing further reports that he pointed out that, what started on a modest scale could eventually develop into a much larger intervention capable of reaching thousands of beneficiaries across the state and beyond.
Meanwhile, Kayode-Adedeji announced at the programme that Penpushing Media, owner of online newspaper and television will henceforth support the initiative of the foundation with donations to complement the organisation’s laudable project
