The Group President and Chief Executive of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, has retired as chairman of the board of directors at Dangote Cement, just as Emmanuel Ikazoboh has been appointed to take his (Dangote’s) position on the board.
Penpushing reports that a source from the company, who preferred anonymity confirmed the development as well as appointment of Ikazoboh, adding that the new board chairman until his appointment served as an independent non-executive director.
The new board boss has over 40 years of experience in senior management roles in Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon and South Africa, and began his professional career at Akintola Williams Deloitte.
Penpushing further reports that Ikazoboh was previously the Group Chairman of Ecobank Transnational Inc., the Pan-African banking group, and until 2009, was the Managing Partner for francophone offices in Cameroon and Côte d’Ivoire and later became the Managing Partner of the Deloitte firm in West and Central Africa.
The Group President and Chief Executive of Dangote Industries Limited it would be recalled in June, retired as Chairman of the Board of Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc, bringing an end to a 20-year leadership of the company.
Penpushing also reports that the retirement of the Nigerian businessman was said to be in line with the principles of good corporate governance and succession planning, the company had earlier said at the time.
