Tinubu appoints wife of late Biafran warlord, Ojukwu as minister, sacks five serving ministers

The Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu has appointed wife of the late Biafran leader, Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, Bianca Odumegu-Ojukwu alongside other newly appointed new ministers, just as he sacked five of the currently serving cabinet members.

Penpushing reports that a statement from the Presidency on Tuesday made available to journalists said Tinubu, in same vein reassigned ten ministers to new positions, with announcement of appointment of seven new ones

The statement said the five sacked ministers are Uju-Ken Ohanenye,(Women Affairs); Lola Ade-John, (Tourism); Tahir Mamman,(Education); Abdullahi Gwarzo,(State, Housing and Urban Development and Jamila Ibrahim(Youth Development).

Penpushing further reports that the presidency explained that the dismissal and appointments are part of eight far-reaching actions to reinvigorate the administration’s capacity for optimal efficiency pursuant of his commitment to deliver on his promises to Nigerians.”

The newly appointed ministers, who would still have to be confirmed by the Senate,include  Nentawe Yilwatda, Muhammadu Dingyadi, Bianca Odumegu-Ojukwu, Jumoke Oduwole, Idi Maiha, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, Suwaiba Ahmad.

Penpushing also reports that the retained Ministers and their new portfolios include Hon (Dr) Yusuf Tanko Sununu (Minister of State, Education), Dr. Morufu Olatunji Alausa (Minister State, Health Minister of Education), Barrister Bello Muhammad Goronyo (Minister of State, Water Resources and Sanitation), Hon. Abubakar Eshiokpekha Momoh (Minister of Niger Delta Development)

The others are Uba Maigari Ahmadu (Minister of State Steel Development), Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite (Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment) Senators John Owan Enoh (Minister of Sports Development), Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim (Minister of State, Police Affairs), Ayodele Olawande(Minister of State for Youth Development) and  Dr. Salako Iziaq Adekunle Adeboye(Minister of State, Environment)

Penpushing reports that the statement said Ministers to be discharged are Barrister Uju-Ken Ohanenye,(Minister of Women Affairs), Lola Ade-John, Minister of Tourim) Prof Tahir Mamman( Minister of Education) Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo( Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development),Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, (Minister of Youth Development), Barrister Uju-Ken Ohanenye (Minister of Women Affairs) and Barrister Uju-Ken Ohanenye (Minister of Women Affairs)

The President thanked the outgoing members of the Federal Executive Council for their service to the nation while wishing them the best in their future endeavours, and equally charged the newly appointed ministers as well as their reassigned colleagues to see their appointment as a call to serve the nation.

Penpushing further reports that Tinubu added that all appointees must understand the administration’s eagerness and determination to set Nigeria on the path to irreversible growth and invest the best of their abilities into the actualisation of the government’s priorities.
