Transition Monitoring Group on sensitization rally ahead of governorship election

The Transition Monitoring Group (TMG), Ogun State Chapter on Tuesday embarked on awareness rally to sensitize the public and electorate on peaceful conduct of the forthcoming Governorship and Assembly elections across the state.

Penpushing reports that the group led by the State Coordinator Adesina Adesegun took off from Iwe-Iroyin Press Centre to major streets which Oke-Ilewo, Ibara, Omida and Panseke among others in Abeokuta, the state capital.

The members which cut across number of Non-Governmental Organisations were seen with placards with various placards with inscriptions such as ‘Come out and vote’, ‘Our vote must Count’, Count’ ‘Perform Your Civic Responsibility with Passion’among others.

Penpushing further reports that the rally has the theme, ’Your Vote, Your Right, Act Wise” which was supported by USAID and Palladium, emphasizing on supporting citizens engagement towards the 2023 general elections.

The Coordinator of the Transition Monitoring Group (TMG) in his speech explained that the rally was s aimed to educate electorate, and urged residents to come out in large number to vote for their choice candidates at the poll.

Penpushing also reports that Adesegun said the group was not out to campaign for any candidate or political party, but to encourage electorate to make a meaningful choice of leaders who will take the state to greater height.

‘The rally is aimed to encourage electorate to come out enmasse to participate at the poll, and make their choice of leaders. We are calling on all eligible voters to come out on Saturday to vote, and ensure your vote is count’, he said

‘We are not out to campaign for any candidate or political party, but for electorate to come out to make choice of their preferred candidate(s). Do not make yourself available as tools for violence or destruction’, Adesegun added

Penpushing also reports that some other leadership of the Transitition Monitoring Group (TMG) who participated in the rally include: Sina Adefolahan(Zonal Coordinator South-West), Damylola Shodiya(Deputy State Coordinator Ogun West District),Akinpelu Akintayo(National Youth Officer)and Sodipo  Olalekan(Deputy State Coordinator Ogun East District)
