The Owu Kingdom of Egbaland may have goofed over the claim that the murdered traditional ruler of Agodo in Ewekoro local government area of Ogun State, Oba Ayinde Odetola   was a self proclaimed monarch.

Penpushing reports that, investigation conducted revealed that, contrary to the Owu statement signed by Akogun Owu , Chief Ishola Akinsipo on behalf of Olowu-in Council, the Ogun State Government approved the appointment of the deceased as qualified traditional ruler of the town.

The government in a letter of approval affirming authenticity of Odetola as the royal father of the community and signed by Dolapo Adewunmi, Director, Chieftaincy Affairs of the Ogun State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs said the government wished him best of luck as he oversee affairs of the community.

Penpushing further reports that, the letter with reference number CHM.1/86/9 and titled, ‘Appointment As Coronet Oba’ , dated  April 17, 2018, called on the monarch  to liaise with the Egba Traditional Council for further briefing.

The letter in the custody of Penpushing Media and addressed to   Odetola  emphaised  that it was important to note that the remuneration  attached to his stool  will be settled by the Egba Traditional Council, after it has been properly integrated  into their budget.

‘I have the greatest pleasure to inform Kabiyesi that in accordance with the Sub-Sections (1) and (2) of section 25 of the Chiefs Law, Laws of Ogun State of Nigeria, 2006, the Government of Ogun State of Nigeria has approved your appointment as the first Kabiyesi Alayeluwa Olu of Agodo in Ewekoro Local Government Area with effect from 11th April, 2018’, the letter reads

‘I am to convey to Kabiyesi, on behalf of the State Government, hearty congratulations on this appointment and to wish Kabiyesi good health, long life and many years of peaceful and prosperous reign’, the letter emphasied

‘Kabiyesi is advised to liaise with the Egba Traditional Council for further briefing. It is important to note that the remuneration attached to your stool will be settled by the Egba Traditional Council after it has been properly integrated into their budget. Once again, accept my hearty congratulations’, Adewunmi wrote

Penpushing also reports that, further investigation revealed that, after the approval, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo conducted the crowning of Odetola at a ceremony held at Ake palace in Abeokuta
