Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has again exhibited his passion for respecting tradition and culture as he bowed in homage to the newly crowned 37 year old Olu of Warri, His Royal Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III.

Penpushing reports that, Obasanjo, a renowned Egba High Chief on a visit to the monarch was seen kneeling before the traditional ruler who sat majestically on his throne, to welcome him in his palace

The 84 year old Obasanjo, popularly called ‘Ebora Owu, having been ushered into the palace moved straight to the traditional ruler, and in honour for the crowned monarch, did not waste time in appreciating tradition and culture of respecting traditional ruler(s)

Penpushing further reports that, Obasanjo prayed for a peaceful and long reign of the Olu and advised him to always stay very close to God in all his dealings, noting that the position was given to him by God, adding that he should not shun the experience and advice of elders.

“Two things must guide you: one, do not shun the experience and advice of elders, it is useful. Experience is wisdom; make use of the experience of people around you. Secondly, be very close to God. I do not want to see the four Olu, I have witnessed three being crowned in my lifetime’, he said.

‘Congratulations. May your reign be long, peaceful, bring unity and prosperity to Itsekiri. May your reign contribute to the development, unity, and prosperity of Nigeria. I am one of the happiest people for your installation. God has specially favoured me to see one, two, three Olu of Warri and I do not want to see four’, Obasanjo added.

The former President, and notable Nigerian Chief  promised not to be far from the monarch, adding that if there is any need to summon, he(Olu) should use his majestic power to do so/

Penpushing  reports that, the royal father was on Saturday crowned the 21st Olu of Warri, and  immediately assumed the title of Ogiame Atuwatse III, in the footsteps of his late father and 19th Olu, Godwin Toritseju Emiko, Atuwatse II.

The monarch in his maiden speech after his coronation pointed out that though people are expected to stand up whenever he does same, but said he would rather want everyone remained seated while he delivered his speech.

Penpushing also reports that, Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in his speech at the coronation urged the new traditional ruler to extend the olive branch to any aggrieved Itsekiri, noting that he was aware that a lot of healing processes are ongoing.

“I am aware a lot of healing processes are ongoing. It is time for healing; ensure the entirety of the kingdom comes together. Whether stubborn or not, extend the olive branch to them. You have a lot of work to do in Nigeria’,he said.

“We cannot afford any distraction at home, so that the larger nation will have your presence in the nation-building.Your reign will truly bring peace and development. God has prepared you for this time. God’s presence be with you,”  Okowa added

Penpushing reports that, Apostle Tomi Arayomi, who was the guest speaker at the thanksgiving said God had ordained Atuwatse III, stressing  that it was a divine arrangement for him to rule at this time.

Meanwhile, the cleric pointed out that, God is willing to partner with people who are willing to partner with the spirit of God to develop nations,
