Lagos police command arrest 76 for violating coronavirus protocols, impound 136

The Lagos State Police Command on Saturday arrested seventy six suspects at a birthday party held at Lavender court, Jakande close Oniru Victoria Island Lagos, which violates coronavirus protocols.

Penpushing reports that, the Command Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi said the Divisional Police Officer, Maroko Division of the Command, led his team on enforcement of coronavirus  protocols which led to the arrest of the suspects

The statement disclosed identities of the suspects as include: Popoola Michael,Adeyemo Opeyemi, Ramon  Salami, Kareem Akeem and Balogun Nurudeen  as well as 71 others, adding that they were arrested midnight.

Penpushing further reports that, Adejobi said the command also impounded more than 136 vehicles for breaking the 12 midnight to 4am curfew on the Island and some parts of Lekki in the recent past.

The statement added that,the owners of the vehicles have been charged to the Mobile Court, Oshodi and were fined appropriately, while in similar vein the command  arrested 40 suspects at Lekki Toll Gate plaza, Lagos State, on Saturday 13th February for conspiracy, conduct likely to cause breach of peace and violation of coronavirus  protocols.

Penpushing also reports that, the command said the suspects had gathered at the Lekki Toll Gate plaza creating tension and behaving in such a manner that could cause breach of public peace without due regard for coronavirus protocols major of which are use of nose masks and social distancing.

The statement said the command has however arraigned the suspects at the mobile court at Panti, Yaba accordingly, adding that they were however granted bail by the court, and the trial adjourned to March 2, 2021, with the certificate of coronavirus test.

Penpushing reports that, the command however, assured the general public that it will always discharge its statutory duties as expected within the ambit of the law, while appealing to Lagosians to be law-abiding and go about their lawful businesses.
