The move to impeach the Deputy Governor of Zamfara State, Mahdi Aliyu by the members of the Assembly may have started, as the Deputy Speaker , Musa Bawa, on Friday at the plenary submitted a document requesting the impeachment.
Penpushing reports that the Deputy Speaker who doubles as the Chairman, House Committee on Public Account, moved a motion for the consideration of the request,stressing that he stand by the notice.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Rt Hon Nasiru Mu’az Magarya, acknowledged receipt of the document, assuring that the assembly will treat the document in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).
Penpushing further reports that, it is recalled that, the Deputy Governor parted ways with Governor Bello Matatwalle,following his refusal to join the defecting Governor and other elected officials in Zamfara to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2021.
