A 100-level student of the Department of Geology, University of Jos, Jeremiah Dalong, was on Thursday stabbed to death on his way to school, few hours after the curfew in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau state
Penpushing reports that, the student had boarded a tricycle on his way to the main campus of the university from the permanent site, and was allegedly stabbed by the operator of the tricycle near Yankari Filling Station, a few metres from the main gate of the university.
The Students Union Government (SUG) President of the university Danladi Adankala, confirmed the sad development, adding that he boarded the tricycle from the university permanent site to the main campus, but was suddenly pulled out and stabbed to death
Penpushing further reports that, the union boss, while lamenting the loss passionately appealed to the Nigerian Government to build a perimeter fence around the campus and more hostels, stressing that this will go a long way in reducing the number of students who stay off-campus.
The Plateau State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Gabriel Ubah, was yet to make official statement on the incident as at the time of filing this report, while it is recalled that, the university had suspended semester examinations following the killing of 27 Muslim travellers on Rukuba Road on Saturday morning, and the state government equally imposed curfew on Jos North local government over the killings.
