University of Ibadan Non-Academic Staff Union to raise N500 million for building project

The University of Ibadan (UI) branch of Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institution (NASU)  is set to raised N500 million for union’s building currently ongoing.

Penpushing reports that the chairman, Comrade Malachy Etim while speaking with journalists explained the project is aimed as part of activities marking the maiden edition of the body and called for the support of well meaning Nigerians who can sponsor the project build  saying that the building would be named after the person.

The chairman added that the purpose of the week was to celebrate excellence, eminent and providence noting that most of their retirees and members needs to be celebrated for their contributions to University of Ibadan(UI) and the union while in service.

“We want you to know about our plans to host the first ever NASU week in the history of university education. We shall be having health talk for members and free health checkup in the first day’,

‘Training for NASU members of different cadres on the appreciation of rules and regulations guiding the conduct of staff in the university by three prominent resource persons will come the second day, and we shall be having sentforth program for our retirees in last two years, and award presentation to deserving Nigerians and people of dignitaries on the third day.”

Penpushing further reports that, Etim however thanked the university management led by the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Babatunde Ekanola for his support, saying that  as a voice to the voiceless the unionwill not chide away from its duty and responsibility in protecting interest of workers.

The union secretary, Comrade Sunday Akinpelu in his remarks, said that awards will be giving to eminent Nigerians who have contributed to the development of the country in politics, economic and education sector, adding that the association will also give awards to its members.
