The traditional ruler of Akinale in Owu Kingdom of Egbaland, Oba Olufemi Ogunleye has advised the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, to consider, as priority, residents of the rural areas in the  State for the new coronavirus  vaccination

Penpushing reports that, Towulade Akinale, regretted that the villagers in near or far from the local government headquarters in the state did not benefit from the first batch of the vaccine.

Michelle Chester, director of employee health services at Northwell Health Inc., holds a vial of the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center in the Queens borough of New York, U.S., on Monday, Dec. 14, 2020. The first Covid-19 vaccine shots were administered by U.S. hospitals Monday, the initial step in a historic drive to immunize millions of people as deaths approach the 300,000 mark. The royal father citing Ewekoro local government as example to buttress his point lamented that residents in Akinale, Ajebo, Iporo, Maku, Lugbena, Akihan, Ojoo and several other villages in the suburb were not captured in the past vaccination exercises.

Penpushing further reports that, Ogunleye said his worries were manifested from his experience during the beginning of coronavirus pandemic when these same residents were short-changed by politicians from the distribution of government palliatives.

“Only good Samaritans like NGOs and social clubs, in which Oba Ogunleye was a member, bailed out our villagers out of their wants” ,the veteran journalist  turned monarch explained.
