The Nigeria Association of Social Workers (NASOW), which is the umbrella professional body of all Social Workers in Nigeria has concluded plans to hold its 37 National Conference/Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Penpushing reports that this was contained in a statement by Acting General Secretary, Oluwatoni Adeleke, which was made available to journalists on Tuesday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, adding that the event will hold between 15th and 19th November 2021.
The scribe added that the International Conference, and Annual General Meeting(AGM) will be hosted by Lagos State Chapter (Eko 2021) with the theme: “Ubuntu – I Am Because We Are: Strengthening Social Solidarity and Global Connectedness”.
Penpushing further reports that,Adeleke said conference, which will be both physical and virtual will feature paper presentations by Dr. Noel Muridzo (President, International Federation of Social Workers, Africa), Dr. David Jones (Member of Council Commonwealth Organization for Social Work), Mr. Oluseyi Oyebisi (Executive Director, Nigeria Network of Non-Govermental Organization (NGO), and Ms Titi Tade (Director Medical Social Work Department, Lagos University Teaching Hospital).
The Secretary General said,others are Professor Chinwe Nwanna (Head of Department, Social Work Department, University of Lagos), while technical sessions would be coordinated by Professor Fatai Badru (Immediate Past HoD, Social Work Department University of Lagos).
Penpushing also reports that Adeleke while speaking further noted that the National Conference/ Annual General Meeting (AGM) is an avenue for social workers across the country to come together and brainstorm on the future of the profession.
“On behalf of our National President, Alhaji Mashood Mustapha, members of National Executive and entire social workers across the country, I wish to announce that we are set to hold NASoW 37th National conference/ AGM’, he stated.
“The conference will hold between Monday 15th and Friday 19th November in Lagos. It is an avenue for social workers to come together to brainstorm on the future of our noble profession. All arrangements have been put in place to comply with all Covid-19 protocols. We wish all participants save trip as they come to attend the memorable conference’,he added.
