The Richard Akinnola Foundation has launched health insurance scheme for the widows of Nigerian Journalists and activists, which is expected to take off on May 1, 2024 under Ilera Eko health insurance scheme.
Penpushing reports that the project initiated by a veteran and proactive media practitioner, Richard Akinola was held in Lagos, which was part of 14th anniversary of the foundation, and would accommodate the widows and their children under 23 years.
The launch which had in attendance Akinola and other stakeholders was designed to enable the widows and their children benefit from free medical treatments at designated hospitals, while number of staff of Ilera Eko health scheme, led by Kuforiji Testimony attended to the widows.
Penpushing further reports that as part of the event the widows and their children benefited from free medical treatments at designated spots, which include blood pressure check, blood sugar and eye test among others
The management of the foundation expressed appreciation to those who supported the project one way or the other, pointing out that the prayers of the widows and their children would work for them, calling on God to bless.
‘To those who supported us one way or the other, the prayers of the widows today would work for you. God bless you. Once we effect payment, the insurance scheme would commence May 1, which would enable the widows and their children benefit from free medical treatments at designated hospitals’, the foundation emphasised
