The former Deputy Inspector General of Police, Abdul Majid Ali under a welfare project, Saidu Namaska Orphanage Home initiated by her late daughter, Majidat Ali has organized a get together for the children in the orphanage.
Penpushing reports that, Majid-Ali, a known philanthropist joined the children to celebrate with them inside the N4milion ultra-modern orphanage, which he built and commissioned on February 27th, 2016 , located in Kotangora, his hometown of Niger State, in memory of his late daughter
The former police boss was seen in the company of the children and officials of the orphanage dining with them, having make provision for feeding and other facilities for the benefits of the innocent children
Penpushing further reports that, Majid-Ali while speaking explained that the party was arranged for the orphans to continue to have sense of belonging and leave a normal life, contrary to believe in some quarters that, they have no hope
The former Deputy Inspector General of Police, while assuring the management of the home by providing the needed facilities at all time, added that the get together with the children in the home is going to be continue exercise
‘The party is organized for the children to continue to have a sense of belonging and leave a normal life. I promised to continue to manage the affairs of the home by providing the essential needs’, he emphaised.
The retired police chieftain used the occasion in encouraging local and state governments, as well as corporate bodies on the importance to assist the home, adding that six of the children will be enrolled in primary school in this new session
Penpushing also reports that, the matron of the home, Hajia Nafisat Abubakar, thanked Majid-Ali for his untiring efforts towards making sure that, the home keep running, and equally expressed appreciation to some Non-Governmental Organisations(NGO’S) for their support
The matron pointed out, while going memory lane at the ceremony which had in attendance notable personalities which include Alhaja Attah Sarah, Alhaji Musa Ibrahim and Alhaji Abdulwahab, said the home is 6 years old, and called for a facelift
Penpushing reports that, it is recalled that the former police boss in 2016, while serving as the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State donated the facility to both the State and the Local Governments for the day-to-day running of the edifice.
The retired policeman handed over the facility after official commissioning of project by Shehu Umar Danyaya, Secretary to the State Government, who represented the State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello.
Penpushing further reports that, he stated that his decision to build the multi-million Naira edifice was an attempt to give back to the society, which he said that made him what he was, adding that the building was in fond memory of his late daughter, Mujidat, a 200 level student of Igbinedon University, Okada, Edo State, who died some years ago in an auto crash within the campus of the private university.
“I am a Civil Servant, I am specifically a Police officer and it is not something out of context to give back to the society that has contributed immensely to what I am today. However, it is a challenge to the present day politicians not only in Niger State, but the country as a whole to let them show more to the yearnings of the society, especially to the less privilege people in the society”, he stated then.
“This one is just my own contribution, especially the small one I can do and I promise that I will continue to do more the way I have started this one. I am retiring to my farm, after my service in the Nigeria Police Force with the view to going home and staying calm, because I do not want to be part of any political association or group’, he added
“Yes, one has to come back to his hometown because I started from here and even though I am to come back after the service and it is better to put a solid foundation for yourself when you are still agile,” he said.
Penpushing also reports that, the commissioning ceremony was attended by the Emir of Kontagora, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Saidu Namaska, Col.Sani Bello (Rtd) and a former Deputy Inspector General of Police (Rtd), Nuhu Aliyu, among other prominent citizens.
