Residents narrate ordeal over bad roads in Abeokuta

The residents of Goshen Estate Asero and Carwash-Adatan Road axis of Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital have lamented over poor state of the road, which they declared becoming frustrating and unbearable for them.

Penpushing reports that number of residents, as well as motorists who spoke during an interview passionately begged the federal government through Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun to urgently come to their aid.

The commuters and residents, who are now pleading with authorities to complete the overdue project emphasized that the bad roads have been causing untold hardship for them, while it has become herculean task to access their various homes.

Penpushing further reports that a resident of the identified axis, Mrs Funmilayo Adeniyi, said residents, motorists and commuters are tired, stressing that the dust, potholes coupled with traffic have become unbearable.

The resident of the area who is a regular user of the road, Segun Oyedele on his part lamented that having easy access home has become tortuous, adding that most of the times he spent hours on the road to navigate his way to his house

Penpushing also reports that a local business owner, Mr Kayode Adeyemo cried out that the experience has been bitter, emphasized that this equally reduce patronage and having negative impact on his family, as customers find it difficult to access his shop

The he Community Leader, Chief Olusegun Ogunyemi, who equally expressed worries on the ugly situation, however, urged the government to hasten the completion of the road, assuring to cooperate with authorities in putting the roads in proper shape

Penpushing reports that a resident of Goshen Estate Asero, Mr Samuel Oludare in an interview cried out to Ogun State government over what he called delay in repair of the road leading to the estate, which he said was stopped since March 2024.

The resident pointed out that the road in question remains the easiest route to get to the main roads leading to different locations within Abeokuta and environs, stressing that the side effect of the neglected road are enormous.

Penpushing further reports that he stated that parents find it difficult to even take their children to schools due to the bad road, adding getting late to school has almost become regular feature in daily activities

‘We appreciate the state government for this project and we also plead to them that they should hasten the completion of these road, the extra expenses on fuel because of the need to take a longer route is too much’, he said

Penpushing also reports that an executive member of the estate Sunday Akinlatun as well as Mrs Alimat Fasisi, a resident and trader narrated the negative effect the delayed project was having on their business and other factors
