The Olubadan Advisory Council doubles as traditional kingmakers of Ibadan town have nominated former Governor of Oyo State Rasheed Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Penpushing reports that the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola announced nomination of Ladoja during a meeting held on Monday at the Olubadan’s Palace, Oke Aremo in Ibadan.
The Ashipa of Ibadanland, Oba Eddy Oyewole, seconded the nomination while all members of the council approved the nomination explaining that the nomination would be communicated to the Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, for his approval.
Penpushing further reports that Ajibola added that the approval of the Governor would determine when the coronation of the new Olubadan who will be 81-years old in September, would take place.
The demise of the 43rd Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, on July 7, 2025, necessitated the process for the emergence of Ladoja as the new monarch of the ancient town, said to be in line with the Olubadan throne ascendancy structure.
Penpushing also reports that Ladoja who is the successor to the late Oba Olakulehin is expected to return to Ibadan from his Lagos residence soonest.
