Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Matemilola is God sent to Owu community, says Obasanjo

The former President of Nigeria Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has described Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba (Prof) Saka Matemilola as God sent to the kingdom, commending him for his commitment to mobilising Owu indigenes both at home and abroad.

Penpushing reports that Obasanjo who is Balogun Owu stated this at a ceremony held at Oba Adeleye Park, in Sokori area of Abeokuta, which was part of activities to mark second year coronation and 60th birthday of the monarch

The Prime Minister of Owu-kingdom said he was equally ready to facilitate all necessary support to ensure the community continues to thrive under the wise leadership of Matemilola, and called on subjects to work in unity

“Our collective strength lies in our unity and shared vision for a prosperous Owu. I am ready to facilitate all necessary support to ensure our community continues to thrive under the wise leadership of Oba Matemilola’, Obasanjo said.

Penpushing further reports that he stressed the importance of unity in achieving sustained economic growth and community development, emphasizing harness of unity for collective resources and expertise for the betterment of Owu.

The first-class traditional ruler in his remarks acknowledged his subjects unwavering support and called for continued collaboration to realise the kingdom’s full potential, adding that the journey towards development is ongoing and with their support, the community can achieve greater heights

Penpushing also reports that the monarch who was presented a special gift by his subjects symbolising community appreciation and solidarity assured that he would continue to be cautious of the welfare of the community and residents

The highlight of the ceremony was a stage drama performed by the Oluyalo Theatre Troupe, exhibiting the significance of unity and peace in fostering economic growth, while various groups, including members of the Abeokuta Club, representatives from royal families and Owu communities, paid homage to the monarch.

Penpushing reports that the traditional ruler was accompanied by his two queens Olori Kadijat Matemilola and Aminat Matemilola who were seen to be in joyful mood as they contributed immensely towards the befitting programme
