A pressure group known as Ogun Good Governance Forum (OGGF) has tacked the chieftain of Labour Party (LP), Arabambi Abayomi over his remarks in condemning the findings raising questions on how N783 billion were spent on projects under three years by Ogun State Government.
Penpushing reports that Arabambi in reaction declared that the forum is faceless, accusing it of presenting figures without adequate context and drawing conclusions without conducting sufficient field investigation, and equally questioned integrity of the body
The group, however, in response to Arambambi said he is terrified of facing the facts that are in black and white inside the 2024, 2025, and 2026 Appropriation Acts, stressing that, that is the behavior of a man who knows the house is on fire but chooses to shout at the person raising alarm instead of fetching water.
Penpushing further reports that the forum in the statement by its Public Relations Officer, Oluwakemi Ogunbiyi declared that he has no moral right to respond to the report because his record and legacy of irresponsibility are well known to all.
‘Let us school you since you claim to have three decades in politics, yet you lack integrity and understand nothing about accountability. You said OGGF is unknown. Unknown to who? the statement read
‘To political jobbers like you who only recognize groups that beg for government crumbs and print banners with “Convener of This” and “President of That” just to sit at the back of government officials and clap, you abuse government and its officials during the day and prostrate at their feet at night?’
‘That is your CV, not ours. The same mouth that once abused Governor Dapo Abiodun is today the loudest megaphone for “Sustainability of Dapo Abiodun Legacy.” You eat your vomit in public and expect us to call it a meal’.
‘You are a political rag, disposable at will; a mercenary of convenience, the type that reinvents himself every election cycle with a new title and a new godfather. And tomorrow, when the table turns, you will be a Convener of “Down with Dapo Abiodun Legacy” without blinking. We are citizens, and you are a contractor of praise-singing. That is the difference’, the group said.
‘You sat in your house and began to defend what you have not seen. That is irresponsibility, not advocacy. The burden of proof is not on the people asking questions. It is on the government spending the money and on you people facilitating rejoinders.
‘Release the BOQs. Release contractor names. Release completion certificates. Release project locations. Your memory that you deployed in asking and requesting similar documents from the Ogun State government over Ibara housing regeneration took leave of you in your so-called right of reply’.
‘This is how low you have sunk. Until those in question do that, your long disclaimer is empty. The Appropriation Act lists the projects, we listed the codes, and less than 100 can be verified on the ground. If you have seen them, provide the requested evidence because we cannot see them’.
‘However, you said it is normal for a Federal Medical Centre in Delta to execute ₦6.6 billion for power and empowerment in Ogun state, that it is normal for a College in Plateau to do ₦3.5 billion solar and roads here, that it is normal for Almajiri Commission to do ₦4.9 billion roads.
Penpushing also reports that it would be recalled that the group had in a statement stated that over the last three federal budget cycles, the national assembly has appropriated money for 1, 377 distinct projects that mentioned Ogun State.
The body said the combined value is N783billion, spread across 48 federal ministries, department and agencies, arguing that the figure was large enough to make any citizen pause and ask simple question, where are these projects and can they be seen on ground.
