The incumbent governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has been officially declared winner of the Saturday governorship election, paving way for his second term to rule the state for another four years.
Penpushing reports that Adeleke won his re-election bid after defeating 14 other candidates as announced on Sunday morning by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at its headquarters in Osogbo.
The returning officer of the electoral commission Joshua Ogunwole said Adeleke, candidate of Accord Party (AP) scored a total of 511,067 votes while his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of All Progressives Congress (APC), scored 444,815 votes.
Penpushing further reports that Adeleke also won in 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas while Oyebamiji won in 11, however, below is the final result Accredited voters 1,010,604 Accord 511,067, APC 444,815, AAC 1458, ADC 17180, ADP 2946, APGA 1474, APM 234, APP 114,BP 111, NNPP 118, PRP 83, SDP 155, YPP 534 and ZLP 2482, with total valid votes: 985,079, rejected votes: 20,721, while total votes cast: 1,005,800
