A Non-Governmental Organisation, The Intellect Club of Ogun State in collaboration with Rotary Club of Nigeria and Junior Chamber Nigeria (JCIN) on Wednesday added values to the educational growth of some pupils in the state.
Penpushing reports that, the body in support of the academic of the pupils donated school uniforms, sandals, bags and other writing materialsl to primary school pupils in the state, as part of social responsibility.
The President of the Club, Temidayo Fasanya in his address explained that, the donations were targeted to primary school pupils as part of the organisation’s efforts to give back to the society.
” This is just a small organisation running for about ten years now and it a Non Government Organisation ,in our sense and God gift pleasure, we discover that we can gather ourselves together to reach out to less privileged, and this is what we have been doing for the past ten years”, he stated
“Part of our project is to reach out to students, in time like this. We normally have what we call back to school project. Part of the project is what we are able to do today. We reach out to schools and donates uniform, school bags and other writing materials to students, this we call it back to school project’
‘Part of what we have done today is, we go to St Joseph nursery school Isabo, Oke -Bode, to donate school bags, uniform and other writing materials to the students to encourage the less privileged among the student”, he disclosed
Penpushing further reports that, Fasanya disclosed that, Inter school competition was organized by the club in Abeokuta, as part of its project, adding that the club has plan to sponsor two students among the selected one for their academics career.
“The competition we held today, which include AGGS, Abeokuta Grammar School, African Church Grammar School, Sacred Heart International School, Ijemo Tuntun High School and others, is also the part of the project to discover the potential of each of the student and we have come to set a goal to sponsor two of the students education’, he stated.
“We have discovered that, in the society now and the country at large the government can be saddle with all the responsibility, so that is why we came together as young chap to give back to the less privileged and the society at large, Fasanya reiterated
Penpushing also reports that, the Rotary Change Maker President Abeokuta Hills and Charter President Rotarian Ogunwolu Adegoke in his submission stressed that, government alone cannot do everything, pointing out that, coming together of Non Governmental Organisation(NGO) will reduce the responsibility, noting that a club can be in collaboration with others since they have the same goals.
“We are playing a role to contribute and help the society and government, as club, and it doesn’t mean club do everything, if N10 is contributed by ten people it is something, if two or three club collaborate together and do a project, its faster and be useful at appropriate time for the people to benefit from it at the appropriate time.
“It is not compulsory that a Club do it alone, Rotary can do with Intellect club, JCIN or Lion club of Nigeria. If a club decided to do project of N1million it may not be easy to do at the appropriate time, and for the people that wants to benefit from it, so if two or three club come together it will be easy and perfect at the appropriate time. Adegoke emphasised.
