The General Overseer of Victory Life Bible Church(VLBC), Apostle Lawrence Achudume has blamed Nigerian leaders as being responsible for the ‘Japa syndrome’ by number of Nigerians, especially the youths, and called on need for those at helm of affairs to rise up to the challenges.

Penpushing reports that the cleric made this observation while speaking with journalists during an interview at the church world headquarters located along Abeokuta-Ajebo road in Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital.

The known frankly speaking clergyman said Nigeria as a  country is not bad, stressing that every countries have their various and peculiar challenges, noting that those who travelled out did that because they are optimistic of their future in foreign lands

‘Many Nigerians are leaving the country not because the country is bad, but because the countries they are traveling to usually express optimism and hope. Every nation has its peculiar challenges’, Achudume said.

Penpushing further reports that Achudume speaking on the low turnout of prospective electorate to pick up their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), ahead of the election, advised the Independent National Electoral Commission,(INEC), to make use of the contact details of such individuals to ensure seamless collection of the cards in order not to disenfranchise potential electorate and increase people’s participation in the election

The General Overseer of the renowned church at the media parley frowned at the assumption that public office holders are responsible to the President alone, affirming that their duty is to the people not the President’

Penpushing also reports that Achudume warned that those in government should mind their language and not allow fear to overwhelm the people as there is already tension in the land, urging Nigerians to be optimistic that the nation will be great.

The fearless cleric identified that the nation’s leaders are not building hope, thereby making people to be losing hope in the country, stressing that it was therefore unnecessary to start pre-empting a likely cancellation of the 2023 general elections.
