The residents of Magodo Brooks Estate in Isheri of Lagos State have begged the Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu over the misconduct of security guards towards the police boss, who was denied entry to the estate on January, 1, 2022

Penpushing reports that, a faceoff between the commissioner and   alleged overzealous private security guards, said to have denied him access to the estate, despite proper introduction and reason for the visit.

The Command Public Relations Officer, Adekunle Ajisebutu earlier in response to the face off explained in a statement that, Odumosu was accompanied by armed security details, driven in his official car bearing an official number plate and a pennant to the estate .

Penpushing further reports that, Ajisebutu said the Commissioner was to meet a colleague at a function where a security matter was to be discussed, but this explanation fell on deaf ears of the private security guards of the estate

‘When it became obvious that the security men were going overboard, the CP after about 30 minutes humiliation, ordered the arrest of four of the security men, leaving one. However, in order not to make the Estate porous, the Commissioner of Police immediately posted armed policemen at the gate to support the security man left behind. A few minutes later, a female resident, later identified as Adebola Fatiregun, who didn’t witness the incident, stormed the gate in anger, inciting other residents”, the police said

Penpushing also reports that, the police spokesman said, Adebola was arrested for inciting violence and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace, adding that she alongside others were taken to the Isheri Police Division where they made statements.

The Command Public Relations Officer in the statement said all were subsequently released following the intervention of notable individuals, adding that at no time did Odumosu shut the estate.

Penpushing reports that, Ajisebutu maintained that it was residents, in solidarity with the arrested security men,  that closed the gate, creating a temporary gridlock, contrary to report against the police.

The Chairman Board of Trustees of Magodo Brooks Residential Association (MABRA) Engr Ayoola Lawson, following the ugly development, on January 3,2022 conveyed a letter of apology to the commissioner, adding that the association regretted the actions of the estate security guards

‘I Engr Ayoola Lawson Chairman Board of Trustees of Magodo Brooks Residential Association (MABRA) on behalf of residents  ,hereby tender an unreserved apologies for improper conduct of our estate security men towards you on the 1st January, 2022 at the estate gate entrance’, the apology letter reads.

‘The conduct of the security men is highly regretted. I hereby wish to assure you that such a misconduct will never happened again.  I thank you for your anticipated acceptance of our apologies and your assurance of settling the matter’, Lawson wrote

Penpushing further reports that, Lawson also forwarded the copy of the apology letter to the Divisional Police Officer of Isheri Divisional Headquarters, which is also in custody of Penpushing media, and this is coming just as residents expressed fear that the released security guards and Fatiregun may be re-arrested and arraign in court on Tuesday.
