The Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke will on Friday know his fate whether to continue in office as  Governor, as the Election Petition Tribunal has set aside the day for judgement on the petition by the All Progressives Congress(APC) challenging his victory of the July 16 election.

Penpushing reports that it is recalled that at its last sitting in Osogbo, the chairman of the tribunal, Tertsea Kume, said the panel would communicate the date for the judgement to the parties (Peoples Democratic Party and All Progressives Congress) in the petition.

The election petition tribunal on Tuesday communicated the date by pasting the notice on the board at the entrance of the court where the tribunal was sitting, which was signed by the tribunal secretary indicating that the panel will deliver judgment at 9 a.m.

Penpushing further reports that the three-member panel started hearing the election petition in August 2022, while record has it that the main arguments of the petitioners are that  Adeleke forged the academic credentials he presented for the election and that there was over-voting in 749 polling units.

The counsel of the former Governor and the All Progressives Congress (APC) argued on the case of the petitioners while the counsel to Governor Adeleke, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) defended their positions.

Penpushing also reports that witnesses of both parties were called and cross-examined, including officials of the INEC, while the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines used to conduct the election were also brought to the court for inspection, and at the last adjourned date, all the parties adopted their final written address.

The immediate past Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) had five months ago filed the petition against Adeleke, his party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
