The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has appointed and deployed Mrs. Saseyi Feyijimi Ibiyemi as the new and first female Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Ogun State
Penpushing reports that Ibiyemi who was sworn-in alongside other colleagues on May 30, 2025, at Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) National Headquarters, Abuja, is to replace late Barrister Olaniyi Ijalaye.
The late Ijalaye, it is recalled reportedly slumped and died in his hotel room after a meeting of Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) at the Commission’s headquarters, while it was gathered that he was lively throughout the commission’s meeting but later slumped at his hotel in Abuja.
Penpushing further reports that, however, the deceased was recently replaced by Ibiyemi, and subsequently posted to Ogun State and expected to assume duty in couple of days in Abeokuta.
The new Resident Electoral Commissioner had earlier served as Administrative Secretary of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Lagos State and expected to bring her extensive experience to display as she heads the commission.
Penpushing also reports that a statement by Oludare Ajayi Public Affairs Officer wished Ibiyemi a tenure marked by peace, prosperity, and remarkable achievements in conducting free, fair, and credible elections.
