Former Ogun State Governor Chief Olusegun Osoba has declared that he would continue as a, practicing journalists when he gets to heaven, and would ensure reporting happenings over there, adding that journalism profession remain only profession that will be relevant in heaven.

Penpushing reports that Osoba made this known on Saturday while speaking as father of the day at the commissioning of remodeled secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), located at Iyala, Lagos State.

‘When I get to heaven I will continue as a reporter, and I will continue to report happenings in heaven, because there must be report of happenings in heaven. Journalism is the only profession that will remain relevant even in heaven’, he emphasised

The veteran journalist explained that his position in practising journalism in heaven was in line with propounder of information dissemination in heaven, Prof Ralph Akinfeleye, and while speaking on the commissioning of the remodeled secretariat said he was happy to be alive to partake in the exercise, stressing that all practicing journalists must be a member of the union, to make their membership authentic.

Penpushing further reports that Osoba who did the commissioning of the original building twenty years ago, pointed out that Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) remains the only authentic umbrella body for journalists in Nigeria, hence, need for praticising journalists to subscribe to membership.

‘Today is a day of joy for being part of this ceremony. I am a journalist and I remain a reporter. You can only be a journalist when you are member of Nigeria Union of Journalists, which is our umbrella body. I pray for greater height of journalism’, Osoba said.

Penpushing also reports that, the two term former chairperson of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State Council, Funke Fadugba who started the vision of the secretariat twenty years ago expressed joy over the remodeling

‘I thank God that the vision which myself as chairperson and executive started twenty years ago has been expanded. That vision of twenty years ago is viable, developmental and not selfish, but in the interest of humanity’, she stated

Penpushing reports that Fadugba who is the chairman Editorial Board of Penpushing Media, appreciated the former  Akinreti led- executive of the council who started the remodeling, and the incumbent chairman Adeleye  Ajayi led administration for completing the remodeling of the building.

The Chairman of the Lagos State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ) Adeleye Ajayi earlier in his welcome speech confirmed that on assumption of office, the executive met the remodeling at 30 percent completion stage

‘The initial one-storey building that was here was bought by Mrs Olufunke Fadugba-led executive two decades ago with the intention to bring NUJ nearer to the seat of government in Alausa,Ikeja. We thank Mrs Fadugba and her executive for this laudable initiative’, Ajayi stated

Penpushing further reports that he admitted positive roles played by Rev Mother Esther Ajayi, a world renowned Evangelist and Philanthropist who contributed immensely towards the completion of the remodeling of the secretariat

‘I remember vividly that all she required at our first visit to her church was the architectural drawing of the secretariat, which she promised to give to her engineer to study. We told her we did not want cash and that all we needed was for her to complete the building for us’, Ajayi explained

‘Unexpectedly, our security man just put a phone call across to me in November 2021 that some construction workers had arrived our secretariat to start work. I immediately found out that the engineers and other workers were sent by Rev Mother Esther Abimbola Ajayi’

Penpushing also reports that the chairman expressed appreciation to former Governor Osoba for nurturing number of journalists across the globe, as well as commissioning original building over two decades ago, stressing the Nigerian journalists are proud of him

‘Our father, our mentor, a former Executive Governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba, is a proud of we his children that he had nurtured, because he did the commissioning of the original building here 20 years. Today, he is here with us hale and hearty witnessing the commissioning of the remodeled NUJ secretarial as the father of the day’, Ajayi stressed

The chairman disclosed that the council as part of its vision is making efforts to obtain a community radio licence for the union, which will be sighted in Ajido Badagry, as well as working toward befitting health insurance scheme and life insurance scheme for members
