The Ogun Central Senatorial Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of 2027 poll in Ogun State, Prof Iyabo Obasanjo has shed more light on why she left All Progressives Congress (APC).

Penpushing reports that Obasanjo gave further explanation on her exit, at a media parley organized by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abeokuta saying that she considered the party as her best choice because the party remains the most credible platform to reposition Ogun State and improve governance.

“PDP remains the most credible platform to reposition Ogun State and improve governance. PDP is the winning side. I belong to PDP by nature; that is the party that is going to work for Ogun State’, she stated

“I left APC because of disrespect. They are not people that will respect the state. They are not people of honour. If people cannot be taken on their words, what are we doing? I’m back to PDP because they are a good team’ she emphasised

Penpushing further reports that Obasanjo accused leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) party of lacking respect, integrity and honour, while praised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leadership, describing the opposition party as united and dependable.

The Senatorial Candidate emphasised that politics should be driven by service and accountability rather than personal gain, adding that it is not the money we make for ourselves that matters, but how we impact the people.

Penpushing also reports that Obasanjo criticised the impact of industrialisation in Ogun State, arguing that the economic growth recorded over the years has failed to improve the living conditions of ordinary residents.

The daughter of former President Olusegun said industrialisation should translate into jobs, opportunities and better welfare for the people, lamenting that this has not been the case in the state.

“Industrialisation is good, but only if it betters the lives of the people. Industrialisation comes with more jobs and opportunities, but we have not seen that in Ogun State despite industrialisation,” she stated.

Penpushing reports that the media parley at the instance of Governorship Candidate of the party, Hon Ladi Adebutu had in attendance Deputy Governorship Candidate, Chief (Mrs) Yemi Sowumi-Kolapo, Dr Abayomi Tella (Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (and Prince Lekan Tejuoso (Party leader)

The others include Arch Kayode Adebayo (Publicity Secretary) and national assembly candidates, including Hon. Wale Ogunbanjo (Ijebu Central), Oluwafemi Omotayo (Ogun East), Ogunlola Olabode (Ogun West), and Segun Adekoya (Ijebu North Federal Constituency).
