The Senator representing Ogun Central of Ogun State at the National Assembly, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has written to his colleagues in the upper chambers of his decision to run for President in the 2023 election.

Penpushing reports that, Amosun in a letter disclosed to his colleagues that the official declaration ceremony will take place on May 5 at the Yar’ Adua Centre, Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The letter read out by the Senate President, Senator Ahmad Lawan, said Amosun was equally inviting all members to be present at the upcoming official declaration and sought their prayers and well wishes

Penpushing further reports that, Amosun noted how he has served as a senator between 2003 and 2007, as a two-term governor of Ogun State between 2011 and 2019 and now as a senator for the second time.

The former Governor boasted that, his varied experience in private and public life has imbued him with requisite insights, experiences and network of relationships adequate to provide a leadership that will galvanize the country to achieve her manifest destiny as leader in Africa and of the black race.”

Penpushing also reports that, with the emergence of Amosun as an aspirant, he would contend for the All Progressives Congress(APC)  Presidential ticket with The likes of Bola Tinubu and the Vice President,Prof  Yemi Osinbajo at the party’s primary election.

The other aspirants for the party ticket include: Rotimi Amaechi(Minister of Transportation), Chris Ngige(Minister of Labour and Employment), Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State and his Kogi and Cross River State counterparts, Yahaya Bello and Ben Ayade.

Penpushing reports that, the list include, former Senate President, Ken Nnamani; former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha and a businessman, Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, Ibrahim Dauda, Moses Ayom, Tein Jack-Rich, Ihechukwu Chima and Joy Dokubo.

Meanwhile, on his own part, former Governor of  Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, had on Tuesday signified that he  may not contest because of the disrespect for the South-east zone, arguing that the position should have been zoned to the region for the sake of equity and fairness.
