The residents of Oke-Oko community in Ewekoro local government area of Ogun State on Thursday had bitter taste treatment of suspected herdsmen who invaded the community, allegedly shot a man, and kidnapped the wife.
Penpushing reports that, the incident was reported to occur late evening, when the man was attacked by the gunmen, who also seized his wife, whose whereabout remain unknown as at the time of filing this report.
The head of the community, Chief Mukaila Sekoni confirmed the incident to Penpushing Media, adding that, the entire community was in disarray following the attack and seizure of the woman, stressing that a report had been made to the police
Penpushing further reports that, the community head said the gunmen in a bid to escape, left behind one of their pouches, which always contain swords, adding that one of the suspects was apprehended following effrontery of the villagers.
The Baale disclosed that, the apprehended suspect had been handed over to the Divisional Police Officer of the area, adding that as at the time of filing this report, villagers have embarked on frantic search of the abducted women, while the husband had been rushed to the hospital
‘This is not a child play, I was in Itori when I got a distress call, and had to raced back to the village. I can authoritatively tell you that the gunmen were Fulani herdsmen, they invaded the village, shot the man and abducted his wife, whose whereabout remain unknown as at now’, he stated
‘The gunmen while attempting to escape, one their pouches fell down, and we were also able to discovered that, pellets from the gun they used showed that, the gunmen came with AK-47 gun. We were able to arrest one of them, who I personally handed over to the Divisional Police Officer’, Sekoni emphasised
The Community Head said, as at 10pm when contacted by Penpushing media disclosed that, he had mobilized the villagers which include local hunters to comb every nooks and crannies of the community to rescue the abducted woman, and apprehend the runaway suspects
Penpushing also reports that, as at the time of filing this report, the Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi could not be reach for reaction, but sources said the Divisional Police Officer, was trying to send signal of the incident to the Police Headquarters
