Gunmen on Tuesday night allegedly kidnapped four persons at Olubo village located along Abeokuta-Imala-Ilara-Ayetoro Road, in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State

Penushing reports that, the victims which include three female traders and their driver were abducted at about 8.00pm while they were returning from Ilara market in Imeko-Afon Local Government area of the state.

The victims were reported travelling in a Toyota Avensis Commercial SUV with registration number FFF 654 TK, when the attack was launched by the bandits who displayed AK-47 rifles and machetes to carry out the operation

Penpushing further reports that the scene was same spot where a Medical Doctor  and a Nurse travelling from Imeko town, were also kidnapped last month, but later regained freedom after ransom was paid to their abductors.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Bolanle Muritala, appealed to the residents within the vicinity to remove the barricade on the road, with assurance that the command will apprehend the suspects and effect release of the victims.

The police boss who arrived the scene in a police helicopter marked 5N-GEJ said, “We are going after the abductors,  that is why we are here. We shall definitely get them,”

Penpushing also reports that, two survivors of the attack Mrs. Akewugberu and Mrs. Rofiat Oladeinde, said the commercial vehicle was abruptly stopped by four gunmen, who shot into the air repeatedly

‘The gunmen armed with AK-47 rifles and machetes, abducted the driver and three women who were selected randomly among the passengers. The abductors spared a Fulani and two Hausa passengers among them but collected their money and cell phones’.

Penpushing reports that, husband of one of the victims, Mr Mutiu Oderinde, told journalists that his wife, Jelilat, had travelled to Ilara market for business transaction to help her mother, who was indisposed.

The husband appealed to the state government and security agencies to secure the release of his wife and other abductees unhurt, adding that the development was a mental torture for the families affected.

Penpushing also reports that, when contacted Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the incident, adding that, ’four persons were kidnapped, but our men are on their trail’
