The outgoing Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has relieved all Special Advisers and Chairpersons of Boards and Commissions of their jobs, ahead of the handing over to the next administration.
Penpushing reports that, the incoming administration scheduled to be inaugurated on 16th October, 2022, is to be led by Biodun Oyebanji, known to be the choice successor of Governor Fayemi, having won the governorship election under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC)
The Permanent Secretary Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Tajudeen Adejumo, in a circular issued on Tuesday explained that the governor also announced the termination of appointment of Technical Advisers, Directors General, Coordinators; and other Heads of Non-Ministerial Offices.
Penpushing further reports that, the circular, however, clarified that the dissolution excluded statutory commissions spelt out in section 197 of the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended.
The outgoing Governor urged the affected officials to hand over all government property in their possessions to the Accounting Officers or the most senior career officers in their Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
Penpushing also reports that, the circular emphasized that, relief of appointments of the affected political office holders takes effect from 31st August, 2022, while it is recalled that, just three weeks ago, the governor bid farewell to all his Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants in the same manner.
The Governor, it is recalled recently named a 46-member committee to coordinate activities marking the end of his tenure as well as inauguration ceremony for the incoming administration of the Governor-Elect.
Penpushing reports that, Fayemi while discharging his political appointees, has also been busy making appointments into statutory offices as part of his winding down exercise, and just last week he approved the appointment of secretaries for the 16 Local Government Areas and 19 Local Council Development Areas in the state.
Meanwhile, the outgoing Governor was quoted saying that the move was to strengthen the local government administrations in the state, and that the appointments were with immediate effect.
