The father of a veteran journalist, Olayinka  Oyebode and Chief Press Secretary in Ekiti State, Chief Samuel Oladipo Oyebode has died peacefully on Sunday barely six weeks after his 95th birthday

Penpushing reports that, the bereaved son, who confirmed the death, said he first received an early morning call from his mother, on the transited to glory of his father, explaining that, the call climaxed weeks of anxiety, as the old man continued to show signs of burden of ageing, without any form of illness.

‘Like it is with all mortals, my daddy, Chief Samuel Oladipo Oyebode, transited to glory in the morning of Sunday, December 19, 2021, barely six weeks after his 95th birthday. An early morning call from my mum confirmed the news. The call climaxed weeks of anxiety, as daddy continued to show signs of burden of ageing, without any form of illness’, he stated.

Penpushing further reports that, the journalist described his late father as a devout Christian who lived a life of service to God and humanity, adding that he was a father in a million, and father to millions of children

‘A devout Christian, Daddy lived a life of service to God and humanity. He was a father in a million and a father to million children. A disciplinarian to the core, he did not spare the rod, whenever it was necessary’, Oyebode added.

‘And I got a good dose of that as a kid. Yet, his smiles were warm and reassuring. A good listener and a man of wisdom and integrity he was. As a Scout Master who attained the position of a Commissioner in the Scout Movement, it was apparent daddy was always well prepared. He was a man of meticulous planning above all he had a generous spirit’.

‘In all, we give thanks to God Almighty for giving me and my siblings, Chief S.O. Oyebode as a father. I thank you dad for all you did. You were simply the best father anyone could ever wished for. Thanks for all you taught me- the dignity in labour; honesty, forthrightness, generosity, humility, hard work, calmness in the midst of provocation’, Oyebode added.

Penpushing also reports that, he declared that he would missed the deceased for his frank talks, smiles, political discussions and those little pep talk each time he was with him, as well as special way he called his name.

‘I will miss you dad. I will miss your smiles. I will miss your frank talks. I will miss our political discussions and those little  pep talk each time I came around. I will miss the special way you call my name’.

‘But, I am comforted with the fact you lived a good life and left for us a good name- which as you always taught is better than silver and gold. And seeing how glorious you ended your journey, I am further motivated to run my race with more determination, serve more, touch more lives and do more exploits for the Kingdom’.

‘I have no doubt you are now having a well -deserved rest in the bosom of our Lord, till we meet to part no more. I love u dad! Rest well! Now, unto King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God be glory, honour and adoration, now and forever more’, the bereaved wrote.
