A family resident in Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital has petition Governor Dapo Abiodun to come to their aid towards getting justice over alleged rape of their 9 year old daughter by children of their neigbours.

Penpushing reports that, the father of the victim, Oluwaseyi Babarinde  in the petition with copies forwarded to  wife of the Governor Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, the Attorney General, Ministry of Justice, the Special Adviser, Ministry of Women Affairs, the Commissioner of Police and  Commissioner for Education, alleged a plot to manipulate the case by some influential people in the state..

‘We followed through and complied with all the processes required at the Police Station including and continued with medical check-up at Olikoye Ransome Kuti Memorial Hospital, Asero, the result was collected by the Police from the Hospital’, the family wrote.

‘But to our dismay, since then, there had been pressures and threats to our lives as a family and claims that the two families can and will influence the outcome of whatever steps we wish to take to seek redress’, the petitioners emphasised.

‘The first hearing of the case was on the 8th July, 2021 at Magistrate Court 03, Isabo. The accused were to be sent to Borstal Home pending the advice of the DPP on the case’, the petition stated.

‘To us, as a family, we felt the case was being manipulated and the process truncated by the Magistrate who granted bail to the accused in favour of their lawyers. Consequently, we fear the Magistrate was sort of being too compromising in her utterances to the two lawyers who stood in defense of the accused’, the family raised alarm.

‘With the proceedings and decision of the court on the first hearing we have strong reservations of the impartiality, fairness and the likely fair dispensation of justice from the Magistrate in Court 03, in Isabo’.

‘Please, we pray to you to use your honourable and good office to see that this innocent child gets justice for the crime and evil perpetrated by the boys against her because of the physical, psychological, emotional, and terrifying trauma, including threats to our family lives by misrepresenting us as blackmailers when all we seek is redress for a case of rape, and defilement of a 9-year old’, the family emphasised.

Penpushing also reports that, the family in the petition titled, ‘We write seeking Justice for a 9-year old girl raped by two Boys”, said the two suspects whose ages range between 12 and 16 reside in the same compound with them

‘The case is currently in court but there are underhand schemes and desperate attempts to manipulate and influence the court process and subvert the course of justice. We appeal to you, to use your honourable office to intervene in seeing that the innocent girl gets the justice she deserves in this case’.

Penpushing reports that, the petitioners recalled the incident explaining that, on Saturday, June 12th, 2021, around 1:00 pm, their daughter decided to open up and confide in her mother after she was told that she was to be moved out of the compound to a new apartment.

The father in the petition said the girl felt a sense of ease and courage to speak out about how she had been sexually abused under threat by one of the suspects since when she was 5 years old, while the other suspect  drafted into the dastardly act by the colleague.

Penpushing further reports that, the father said the victim narrated to her mother how she was first sexually abused  when she was 5 years old (2017),adding that on that day, her mum had innocently dropped her off with a family before going out, so she could play with their children and kept watch over her before she returned.

The petitioners said, one of the suspect realizing that the woman the girl was staying with pending return of the mother had gone out, lured the innocent girl into one of the rooms in their house and sexually abused her.

Penpushing further reports that, the petition stated that the girl disclosed that the suspect would use his hands to cover her mouth, force himself on her, and threaten her not to say a word about it, that if she did he would deny it as well as embarrass her in the compound, and even kill her.

‘Whenever he realized we were out he would quietly sneak to the door of our house, pretending that one of us was at the door, when our daughter opened the door, he would push her into the house, rough handle, manhandle, over power her and raped her’.

The father said, after enduring the harrowing and devastating tale of how the suspects have been sexually abusing and raping the girl, her mother couldn’t hold it any longer and decided to report to the mothers of the boys involved.

Penpushing reports that, the petition said the victim’s mother met mother of one of the suspects and narrated everything to her of how her son had been sexually abusing their daughter.

Meanwhile, the petition said the suspect earlier denied but later confessed the crime, and when asked how many times he had carried out the act, he said, it was more than ten times.
