The Women Advocates Research and Documentation Centre (WARDC) and other civil rights bodies have challenged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on its reluctancy to provide the Certified True Copy (CTC) to Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan after failed attempt to recall her.

Penpushing reports that the non-profit civil rights organization in a statement made available to journalists by Akindeji Aromaye Senior Media Associate, Enough is Enough (EiE) Nigeria said prior to the statement a letter had been written and forwarded to the commission

‘Please find attached our joint press statement regarding the ongoing situation concerning Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s recall petition and INEC’s failure to provide her with the Certified True Copy (CTC) despite formal requests and payment being made’, the statement reads.

‘We also include a copy of our letter to INEC (dated April 14, 2025) which was officially received and acknowledged by the Commission on April 15, 2025, as evidenced by the receipt stamp’, it added.

Penpushing further reports that the bodies said it was alarming that almost a month after Akpoti-Uduaghan lawyers’ formal request of March 28, 2025, and payment made, the Senator has still not received the Certified True Copy (CTC) documents she is legally entitled to review.

‘This raises serious questions about transparency and due process in the recall proceedings. We urge you to bring this matter to public attention as it represents an important issue of electoral transparency and adherence to constitutional requirements’, Aromaye wrote
