Ex-University of Lagos Vice Chancellor, Oye Ibidapo-Obe buried in hometown,Ilesa

The remains of former Vice Chancellor University of Lagos (UNILAG), Prof Oyewusi Ibidapo-Obe were committed to mother earth on Tuesday in his hometown, Ilesa, Osun State.

Penpushing reports that, the last journey of the cerebral Professor who died January, 3, 2021 commenced on Monday with a wake keep held at Cathedral Church of Holy Trinity in compliance with strict coronavirus protocols and guidelines.

The final funeral service was held at Holy Trinity Cathedral Church, Omofe in Ilesa, with the corpse brought in a glittering casket inside a hearse which was accompanied by the widow and children, and the event was attended by number of dignitaries within and outside the town.

Penpushing further reports that,the church authorities received the corpse at the door step of the church and the priest said, “with faith in Jesus Christ, we receive the body of our dear father,Prof Oyewusi Ibidapo-Obe for burial. Let us pray with confidence in God,the giver of life,that He will raise him to perfection in the company of saints”

The order of service for the two hours burial programme include: ablution hymn, post communion prayer, blessing, special renditions by choir, prayer for widow and children, hallelujah chorus, sermon and withdrawal hymn.

Penpushing reports that, on completion of the two hours church service ,the remains of Ibidapo-Obe were moved to the graveyard within the church premises, accompanied by the children and their mother, as well as some family members, where a brief departure service was held and the corpse lowered into the grave precisely 12.30pm, signifying end of the Professor”s sojourn on earth

The management of Penpushing media in a condolence message on the demise of Ibidapo-Obe who was a frontline stakeholders of Penpushing platform, recalled that,the deceased was the first guest lecturer at the maiden edition of the organisation’s annual anniversary lecture held at Marque events centre, Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, four years ago.

The founder of Penpushing Media, Prince Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji who is cousin to the late Professor lamented the sudden exit, stressing that he could not believe the sad incident, recalling that he still spoke with him on phone few days before the death,adding that there was no sign of death

‘Am sad over this. I still spoke with him few days ago. I am shocked to bone marrow. My cousin is gone. This is sad moment for me. I have lost a reliable and valuable family member. It’s really sad. He was our first guest lecturer at the maiden edition of Penpushing Annual Anniversary Lecture. I pray God grant him eternal rest’, Kayode-Adedeji  wrote
