Maureen Edozie in Enugu
The Enugu Metropolitan Lions club has extended gestures to spinal cord patients with provision of number of relief items to them at Enugu Orthopedic hospital, to mark the World Spinal Cord Day.
Penpushing reports that the club led by its President Lion Chibota Edozie gave items which include toiletries, surgical gloves, detergents and cartons of toothpaste, at the Spinal Cord Injury Ward of the hospital.

The club boss who was former patient in the ward while speaking admonished spinal cord patients never to indulge in self-pity as that could lead to depression, and equally inspired the patients with her words of administration, stressing that the spirit of self-pity could lead to depression emphasizing that such could result to death in most cases.
Penpushing also reports that the Secretary of the club Lion Chioma Chukwu disclosed that the programme is part of Charity/Humanitarian works embarked by International Lions Club of which Enugu Metro is part of them.

The immediate past President of Lions Club Enugu Metro, Lion Emma Agbo commended the authority and leadership of the hospital for cleanliness of the entire hospital and the care given to patients.
Penpushing reports that he described the Orthopedic Hospital in Enugu as one of the best noting that they have good staff who are eager to put their best based on the motivation of management of the hospital.

Meanwhile, the glow on the faces of the patients aptly expressed their feelings especially the encouraging and edifying words from the President who they regarded as one of them.
