The Kano State Government has confirmed receipt of the Federal High Cort order restraining it to stop the implementation of the state’s new emirate council law, adding that the order was served on Monday

Penpushing reports that the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Haruna Dederi made this known adding that the Kano State Government is studying the order and will soon wait to respond to the pronouncement.

“This court injunction has generated controversy until this morning at about 10 a.m. We received it from an official of the Federal High Court We received the court order, let’s wait for our response and court pronouncement,” he said.

Penpushing further reports that it is recalled that the Kano State House of Assembly on Thursday passed a bill for the dissolution of the five emirates created by the administration of former governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

The Governor, Abba Yusuf, 24-hours after, signed the law and abolished the emirates of Gaya, Karaye, Rano and Bichi, dethroned Aminu Ado Bayero as the emir of Kano and subsequently reinstated Lamido Sanusi, as the emir.

Penpushing reports that the dethroned emir, however, rejected his removal, citing the order of the federal high court, while a title holder in Kano Emirate, Aminu Dan’agundi, approached the court challenging the scrapping of the emirates and reinstatement of Sanusi.
