The management of Facebook has banned the outgoing President of United States of America (USA), Donald Trump ‘indefinitely’ and will not allow to use the platform until after the inauguration of the President-elect, Joe Biden on January 20.

Penpushing reports that, Trump’s account was suspended by the social media platform on Wednesday in the heat of the violence that rocked the Capitol, Washington DC, when his(Trump) supporters had stormed  the Capitol Building on Wednesday  to prevent the Congress from certifying the electoral victory of Joe Biden in the November 2020 presidential election.

The founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, explained the rationale behind the indefinite suspension of the Facebook account of Trump, adding that the platform took the decision to suspend Trump’s account because he was using his page to encourage his supporters to commit violence.

Penpushing further reports that, Zuckerberg pointed out that the incidents showed that, the outgoing President intended to use his remaining time in office to undermine the peaceful and lawful transition of power to his elected successor, Joe Biden,

“The shocking events of the last 24 hours clearly demonstrate that President Donald Trump intends to use his remaining time in office to undermine the peaceful and lawful transition of power to his elected successor, Joe Biden, he said.

Penpushing also reports that, Zuckerberg stated that Trump’s decision to use his platform to condone rather than condemn the actions of his supporters at the Capitol building has rightly disturbed residents  in America, as well as across the globe/

“We removed these statements yesterday because we judged that their effect — and likely their intent — would be to provoke further violence”,the facebook founder emphasized on his page on Thursday

Penpushing reports that Zuckerberg said following the certification of the election results by congress the priority for the whole country must now be to ensure that the remaining 13 days and the days after inauguration pass peacefully and in accordance with established democratic norms.

The founder said over the last several years, Facebook has tolerated Trump in using the platform consistently with the organisation’s rules, adding that attimes removing content or labeling his posts considered as violation

“President Trump to use our platform consistent with our own rules, at times removing content or labelling his posts when they violate our policies. We did this because we believe that the public has a right to the broadest possible access to political speech, even controversial speech. But the current context is now fundamentally different, involving the use of our platform to incite violent insurrection against a democratically elected government.”

Penpushing further reports that Zuckerberg declared that  the risks of allowing the President Donald Trump to continue to use Facebook service during this period are simply too great, stressing that  the suspension of Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts will remain indefinitely and for at least the next two weeks until the peaceful transition of power is complete.

Penpushing also reports that, following the violence and invasion of the congress by suspected supporters of Trump, four persons were reported dead and several others injured including police personnel.

Meanwhile, the President-elect of America is due to be sworn in on January 20,while his victory has been certified by the Congress and the controversial outgoing President has grudgingly conceded to allow a peaceful transition of power.
