The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo has declared that the late former Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari was a superb boss, who he (Gbadebo) said he did not regret working with him as a military head of state.

Penpushing reports that Gbadebo made this known in an interview with some journalists in his palace located in Ake, Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital in reaction to the death of Buhari which occurred early Sunday at a London Hospital

The former military officer turned traditional ruler emphasized that Buhari was somebody who never used his rank to harass or intimate junior officers, recalling that while they were together at Dodan he (Buhari) was a forthright personality

‘My boss, is somebody who never used his rank to harass junior officers even when he was Head of State, rather than summon me to his office and we were in Dodan Barracks together he would call me on the intercom’, Gbadebo recalled.

‘Even when he was going to sell his house in Victoria Island the offer, they gave him, somebody came to me and gave an offer of additional 15% General Buhari said no, the people who gave me money to build the house are the ones going to sell it and they will give me what belongs to me that was the man’

Penpushing further reports that Gbadebo added that the late former President was not a man who is greedy about money, or interested to enrich his pocket, and would never do anything for sake of money

‘Money had no value to him, he would never do anything for the sake of money, rather was highly principled. we lost a great Nigerian, somebody who wanted the very best for our country he never you know, hesitated

Penpushing also reports that monarch stated Buhari was much interested in the development growth of the country, adding that he would always preach that there no other country and that Nigeria belongs to us and we must remain in it

’He said you have no other country except Nigeria; this is the country you all belong to and we must remain in it and make it get better you must remember that quotation may God rest his soul.

Penpushing reports that Gbadebo on the demise of Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, said the deceased monarch was a great royal father, who became traditional ruler in 1960 and lived for 90 years

‘Awujale was a great king. He became the Awujale when I was in form 3, 1960.  So you can imagine the exposure, the experience. He made kingship worthwhile for those who aspire to be kings, like Princes and those who belong to such families’, Gbadebo stated.

‘Because he carried the Obaship with dignity. And you could never have found him in anything that would bring down the name of the traditional institution. He represented it very well and sponsored a whole department in the university for governance’.

‘Because he wanted people to have government of the people, by the people, for the people, to benefit the people. We are going to miss him a lot. May his great soul rest in perfect peace’, he added.

Penpushing further reports that the royal father said live of both Buhari and Adetona worth emulating, pointing out they earned good names throughout their lives, and thanked God for their lives

‘Well, when one lived to be 91. The other one lived to be 83. So, we have to thank God for the long life enjoyed by them. And look at all the good things people have been saying about them. So, I want Nigerians to learn that whatever you think money can give you, it can never give you a good name if you don’t work for it, if you don’t shun anything that would show that you have made money’

‘We should promote whatever is decent, whatever has to do with efficiency, with good character, honesty, they say, is the best policy. Both of them were honest to a fault, particularly General Buhari’, he emphasised.
