The All Progressives Congress has fixed Saturday, August 22, 2026, for its primary elections to select candidates for four restored State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi states as well as legislative bye-elections in Gombe, Bauchi, Delta and Kano states.
Penpushing reports that National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu of All Progressives Congress (APC) made the announcement known in a time table shared on Wednesday
The ruling party said the timetable followed the decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to restore four previously suppressed State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi States.
Penpushing further reports that it listed the affected constituencies in Delta as Abraka, Isoko North II, and Ughelli South II State Constituencies, while Yagba West II State Constituency was listed for Kogi State.
The party for the legislative bye-elections, listed Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency, Gombe State”; Disina and Sakwa State Constituencies in Bauchi; Udu State Constituency in Delta; and Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano.
‘The All Progressives Congress hereby releases its Timetable and Schedule of Activities” for the conduct of its primaries for the restored constituencies and the 2026 legislative bye-elections’, the party stated.
Penpushing also reports that the timetable explained that, the sale of forms will take place from Tuesday, August 18, to Thursday, August 20, while the last day for submission of completed forms and accompanying documents is August 20.
The party scheduled the screening of aspirants, publication of screening results and screening appeals for Friday, August 21, before the primary election on Saturday, August 22, while for House of Assembly aspirants, the party fixed the expression of interest fee at N1million and nomination fee at N5milion, bringing the total to N6million.
Penpushing reports that for House of Representatives aspirants, the expression of interest fee is N1million, while the nomination fee is N9million, totalling N10million, however, the party explained that female aspirants, youth and physically challenged aspirants are to pay for the expression of interest and 50% of the prescribed nomination fees for each position.
The party directed that all payments should be made in full directly into the designated bank account of the All Progressives Congress, however, the development followed electoral commission’s restoration of the four previously suppressed constituencies in Delta and Kogi states after court judgments.
Penpushing further reports that the affected constituencies had been suppressed for years, leaving residents without direct representation in the respective State Houses of Assembly.
The timetable also covers the forthcoming legislative bye-elections in Gombe, Bauchi, Delta and Kano states, including the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency, where the seat became vacant following the death of lawmaker Tongo Yaya.
