The All Progressives Congress (APC) Ogun State on Thursday adopted Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu as its consensus candidate for Ogun Central Senatorial District ahead of the forthcoming 2027 election.

Penpushing reports that Governor Dapo Abiodun accompanied by Chairman of the party, Chief Yemi Sanusi, the party governorship consensus candidate, Olamilekan Solomon and other chieftains of the ruling party made the adoption announcement of Salisu at a stakeholders meeting held in Abeokuta.

The Governor explained that the consensus method was introduced to ensure the emergence of credible and widely accepted candidates who have contributed meaningfully to the growth and development of the party in the state.

Penpushing further reports that he added that All Progressives Congress(APC) executives were committed to ensuring peaceful and rancour-free primary elections, and described Salisu, as a dependable and reliable politician and administrator

The adopted candidate currently representing Ogun Central Senatorial District at the national assembly, was Abiodun’s Chief of Staff during his first term in office, but now seeking a second term in office.

The Governor disclosed that the party’s direct primary elections would commence on Friday and urged members to conduct themselves peacefully and avoid actions capable of undermining the integrity of the process.

Penpushing reports that the Chairman of the party in his welcome speech explained that the meeting was convened to discuss the party’s processes and how to ensure unity ahead of the 2027 elections, and equally called for decorum during the primary of the party.
