The Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District of Ogun State at the national assembly Otunba Gbenga Daniel on Sunday gave kudos to President Bola Tinubu saying that he (Tinubu) is embarking on quiet but strategic revolutions to stabilise the nation’s economy and improving governance structures.

Penpushing reports that Daniel stated this during the 4th edition of the Asiwaju of Remo Christians Choir Festival held in Sagamu town of Ogun State, and urged Nigerians to look beyond temporary hardship and focus on the long-term benefits of the ongoing policy changes.

The former Governor highlighting Tinubu’s efforts for local government autonomy and the establishment of development commissions, pointed out that such policies were already yielding results.

“For years, local governments were practically comatose, but today, thanks to Tinubu’s leadership, they are beginning to receive funds directly and becoming functional again,” he said.

Penpushing further reports that Daniel who declared his support for Tinubu on his economic reforms emphasized that his assent to the bill establishing the South-West Development Commission is a game-changer.

The Senator likening it to the era of regional governments under the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, stressed that the move gives the South-West a platform to drive collective development across member states, beyond federal and state structures

Penpushing also reports that he stated that the fiscal impact of the removal of fuel subsidy, had led to increased monthly allocations to states, pointing out that newly assented tax reform bill becomes operational next year.

‘This move gives the South-West a platform to drive collective development across member states, beyond federal and state structures. With that, some states could earn four to five times their current monthly allocation’, he said.

Penpushing reports that Daniel on the state creation from Ogun State explained that the people of Remo land have shelved their separate agitation for Remo State and agreed to join forces with their Ijebu kinsmen for the proposed Ijebu-Remo State.

The former Governor who ruled for eight years explained that, the consensus was reached on the condition that the identity and culture of the Remo people would be respected.

“We have now resolved that instead of going alone, we will work together with our Ijebu brothers. The demand now is for an Ijebu-Remo State—just as it was done with Akwa Ibom. This is unity with understanding, not submission’, he stated

Penpushing further reports that the Akarigbo and Paramount ruler of Remo land, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, in his remarks, emphasized that the Remo people are not in conflict with their Ijebu neighbours.

The first-class traditional ruler explained that the Remos are not fighting Ijebu, adding that they only want assurance that their identity will not be swallowed in the new state creation arrangement.

Penpushing also reports that Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, represented by his deputy, Dr. Olaide Adelani, at the event praised Daniel for his spiritual and cultural investments, adding that such initiatives promote harmony, unity and faith in the country.

The highlight of the ceremony was music festival, sponsored by Daniel, featuring 10 choirs from different parts of the country, while Singinspiration Chorale, from Onitsha, Anambra State, emerged winner of the competition, and got N5 million as grand prize.

Penpushing reports that Messiah Chorale from Ile Ife, Osun State, came second and went home with N3.5 million, while De Emerald Chorale from Akure, Ondo State, came third, with cash win of N2.5 million.
