A Veteran Journalist and Author Dada Olanipekun has tasked Nigerian youths on need to have passion in writing of memoirs, so that the coming generation after them would be able to read more about what they have down.

Penpushing reports that Olanipekun gave the charge during the launch of his authored book titled, ’50 Top Role Models in Ogun State’, explaining that the book, now in its third edition, highlighted individuals who have contributed to the state’s growth and development, including non-indigenes.

The author disclosed that he wrote the books to challenge many of his younger colleagues, affirming that everyone featured in the books was due to their contribution and good impact made in their respective field.

‘I wrote the books to challenge many of younger colleagues to write memoirs so that the coming generation to come, they would be able to read more about what they have down. To those of our younger generation, we want to implore you to write developmental stories about humanity, and society, rather than what he said he said”, he added.

Penpushing further reports that Olanipekun, pointed out that the book did not talk with only indigenes, but also looked at people who are based in Ogun state and they are genuinely contributing to the growth and development of the state.

‘The book is written to reflect humanity and community, I challenged you to write yours too, but we were also challenged by someone, that is Obasanjo, he challenged me when I was the chairman of ANA’, he stated.

Penpushing also reports that on the ongoing nationwide protest on bad governance, he acknowledged the frustrations of youths, citing joblessness and corruption, but urged them to express their grievances democratically and calmly.

The media practitioner drew attention of the youths on the lesson learnt during the end police brutality protest in the country, particularly at Lekki in Lagos state, and advised against violent demonstrations, emphasizing the importance of calm and peaceful expression of rights.
